Facts about Hull

March will see the addition of handmade burger Co., St Stephen’s to the family. We can’t wait until we open our first restaurant in Hull, which got us thinking…what do we know about Hull? Here’s a few facts we found interesting, so thought we’d share with you!

Hull’s official name is actually Kingston-upon-Hull and people from Hull are called ‘Hullensians’.

Over a quarter of the city’s population are under 20 years old. (We reckon our student discount will go down a treat!)

Finally…a food related one for you…The pattie originated in Hull. It is a flat cake with a potato, sage and onion recipe, battered and deep-fried. It is popularly eaten with fish and chips, or with just chips, or in a bread cake known as a ‘patty butty’.
