An insight into Whirlow Hall Farm Trust
We’re now into our second week of our Fundraising Fortnight initiative, raising money for worthy local charities. We have asked Joan Ward from Whirlow Hall Farm trust for an insight into how the money raised at our Meadowhall branch will be put to use.
From: Joan Ward – Head of Fundraising Whirlow Hall Farm Trust
It was fantastic news to hear that the handmade burger Co., Meadowhall had chosen to support Whirlow Hall Farm Trust during their Fundraising Fortnight. I have been in regular contact with the staff who seem to be having a great time, in fact eight of us have booked a table at the restaurant tonight to join in the fun !
All monies raised from the staff’s efforts will be greatly appreciated and will go towards our work with children from South Yorkshire. We target in particular inner city schools where children are most likely to be socially and educationally disadvantaged. Many of these children do not know how their food is produced, nor have they been close to farm animals or to the countryside before. By holding a newly hatched chick, bottle feeding a new-born lamb or simply seeing a pig with her piglets for the first time they are having an unforgettable experience and at the same time learning about where our food comes from.
Funds raised by the handmade burger Co. will enable more children to have a ‘Whirlow Experience’
A huge thank you from the whole team at Whirlow Hall Farm!
