Mixed luck for rising star Frank Wrathall Jr in Donington finale

Privateer Toyota Avensis driver Frank Wrathall Jr  suffered mixed fortunes in the final Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race of the weekend at Donington Park.

Frank and the Dynojet Racing team went into the final race boosted by the pace shown in race two, but a broken gear linkage on the green flag lap meant he was forced to return to the pits before the race started.

Quick work from the team allowed him to join the race and although not classified as a finisher, Frank lapped quicker than a number of cars ahead and was able to battle on track with the likes of defending champion Jason Plato and race one winner Matt Neal.

Frank commented “When the gear linkage broke, I thought the race was over but great work from the team meant they fitted a new one and I was able to go out on track and have some fun,” he said. “We have showed again the progress we have made with the car and the speed we have found. I set some good lap times despite being in traffic and the fact I was being held up by people like Matt and Jason was a nice feeling.”

The rising star sponsored by Angel Springs the UK’s leading water cooler service provider, feels more confident about the potential the Avensis has as he progresses through each round finding more speed and a better overall performance. Both Angel and Frank feel positive about the forth coming rounds and the rest of the season.

Rising Star Frank Wrathall Brands Hatch Catch Up

The first round of the British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch, Kent was an exciting weekend for all of the drivers’ especially rising young talent Frank Wrathall Jnr in his debut in this year’s championship. Frank along with the rest of the team worked extremely hard to ensure everything was ready for race day.

Frank got off to a brilliant start but did encounter some difficulty forcing him to not to finish, although disappointed he has remained positive about the forthcoming round this weekend, and looked at the first round at Brands Hatch as a learning curve.

Frank commented “Although the weekend didn’t go to plan, it was a huge achievement to even get the car out on track. Everyone in the team has put a massive amount of effort, time and dedication to get us into this position, and I’m proud of them all. We are trying to develop this car into something spectacular, and it was never going to be an easy project.

Every brand new car has teething problems, its just unfortunate that the timescale has meant the first time we have properly run the car to find these issues has been at the first round. We have a lot of work to do, but developing the NGTC car is an amazing project to be involved with and everybody in the team is excited and eager to get the car to the front of the grid. The potential of the Toyota is huge; I got a glimpse at Brands Hatch as to what this car is capable of. The car looks stunning and sounds great, it’s a pleasure to drive and I’m looking forward to the next few rounds.”

Both Frank and Angel Springs Ltd the UK’s leading water cooler service provider, who sponsor Frank as part of their Rising Star Scheme are confident about the next few rounds and the potential the Toyota Avensis has.

How to keep hydrated in the workplace

A common notion is that water is the best source of hydration. Becoming dehydrated is much more serious and dangerous than you may realise. The brain is made up of around 70% water, meaning that even a slight dehydration can have a negative effect on your body, your work and your productivity.

Offices are notorious for being very dry environments, with most heated in the winter and cooled in the summer. These dry environments can cause you to dehydrate a lot faster than you would normally, so investing in a water cooler could dramatically improve staff productivity and morale.

Water is by far the best way to keep hydrated throughout the day and a water dispenser in the office is a perfect solution to keep everyone happy. It is cheaper, easier and more effective than anything else and will ensure that everyone in the office will have a constant supply of water. While most people may think they can get their water intake from somewhere else, the options sometime have downsides, . Sports drinks and carbonated drinks often contain a lot of sugar by not having enough water; your body and your mind will suffer as you struggle to concentrate. If you don’t have the time to pop out to get a bottle of water, then relying on cups of tea to get through the day will leave you tired, irritable, un-inspired from one day to the next. A constant available supply of water will help keep your energy levels up and keep your brain working to its normal rate. We lose water through urine, sweat and even by breathing, so it’s important to constantly maintain proper hydration levels

You will know if you are dehydrated if:

1.      You feel dizzy

2.      You feel weak

3.      You have an extreme thirst or an inability to drink

4.      Are suffering headaches

5.      Have a dry mouth

To better decide how much water you need each day, you need to divide your body weight in half. The answer is the approximate number of water (in ounces) you ought to drink every day. You ought to drink half of your body weight to remain hydrated and healthy, although most experts recommend drinking around 8-10 cups a day.

Water has a whole host of positive effects on the body.  Not only does it keep us alive because it increases the amount of oxygen in the body. This is crucial when working for long periods of time as the more oxygen in the body means more the oxygen available to the brain that therefore boosts our alertness and mental clarity.  Water helps us stay healthy and flushes toxins out of our bodies and can even help keep our skin clear and healthy.

If you begin to feel a slight slump at work, as most of us do in the afternoon, you may simply need more fluids. So grab a glass of water straight away and feel energised and alert.  You will be able to complete more work, more effectively and will go home feeling much better and happier, all thanks to a few glasses of water that you could easily access thanks to the water dispenser in your office.

BWCA Industry Conference 2011

This year’s annual industry conference was held at the outstanding Crewe Hall in Cheshire. The day consisted of a host of guest speakers along with chairman of the BWCA John Dundon giving his own outlook on the industry and the future.

The BWCA conference was completely different this year, for the first time suppliers and non-members of the association gained an insight into the topics discussed by the various presenters.  This was reinforced by having suppliers setup in the main hall, which meant it gave people who were in attendance the chance to network and discuss products and services in more detail, with a record 157 attendees the day was a great success.

Adrian Webster started the conference with his unique motivational and inspirational speech, which resonated with everyone. Charmaine Holmes from Zenith International then gave us a snapshot of the future of the market and industry. Although only modest market growth is forecast, there is still growth in the mains fed POU market, +2% per year for the next four years. However, severe downward pressure on POU margins means that the value of the bottled water cooler market will still exceed the POU market value in 2014.

Gustav Felix the Director General of the European Association, Watercoolers Europe (formerly EBWA) told the conference of the work they are doing to shape the future of the European markets. In particular Gustav and his team are working with the legislators in Brussels to ensure that POU and bottled water cooler growth in Western Europe is controlled and best practices are implemented in all European countries with the help, guidance and advice of WE (Watercooler Europe).

Another new element, which made the conference different this year, was the presentation given by Jim Dixon from the NHS. Jim gave the audience a flavor of what a major customer wants from the industry. An interesting point made by Jim was during the Q&A, he said that the NHS did not select the cheapest quote, re-affirming the BWCA theory that “it’s not all about price!” but about standards and quality of service.

Richard Bright from Weber Shandwick, one of the global leaders in Public Relations then presented the communications work they are doing with local authorities, the private sector and government decision makers at Westminster, to show how the BWCA can become their “partners” when finding a hydration solution that improves the health of the nation. He also went on to discuss how the water cooler has become symbolic to staff health and wellbeing in the workplaces of today.

Jean-Marc Bolinger, MD of Eden Springs UK, addressed the debate regarding hydration and the environment. For the first time ever the industry is able to present controlled scientific data to show that the carbon emissions of mains fed and bottled water coolers are almost identical. This data has also been challenged and tested and has been proven to be robust, independent and factual. The association now intent to ensure this factual data is communicated to all local authorities and the political decision makers at Westminster via the communications channels now set up with Weber Shandwick.

The last speaker of the day was Dr Colin Wilson, who reported the summary findings of the first POU hygiene report. This report, compiled following extensive and controlled research by Dr Terrie Child, showed that where POU coolers have high usage, bacteria levels are often unacceptably high, this coupled with examples of poor installations and no sanitisations, is the result of poor training and POU coolers being installed at margins that are unsustainable. Consumers are urged to ensure they obtain their mains fed POU water coolers from a BWCA member to ensure a quality installation and regular maintenance program from an independently audited BWCA member.

Guests who attended the Gala dinner were piped into the magnificent Long Gallery, in the Baronial Hall for an evening of good food and live entertainment, bringing the industry event to a happy, if late, conclusion.

Angel At The Compton Hospice – Final Furlong Ball

A few of the Angel staff got all glammed up last Saturday night to go to the Compton Hospice ‘Final Furlong Ball’.  The event was to help raise money for the refurbishment of their patient care facilities.  With a live band, 3 course dinner and live auction, over £14,000 was raised on the night.  Angel Springs the UK’s leading water cooler provider donated a signed Wolves football shirt which raised £350 in the auction.

Compton Hospice is a charity that provides the best palliative care to people with terminal and life threatening conditions. The hospice has been providing this support to its patients and their families for over 25 years.

Rachel Jones Commercial Manager for Angel has commented, “Not only did we have a great night out but raising such a large amount of money for a great cause was the main objective.  Because of the current economic climate charity giving is lower than usual so any way that Angel Springs can help is great.  The Hospice is a very important place in the local community and needs constant help which I am always willing to get involved in.  Compton must get to the target of £1,000,000 to achieve their aim so please help however you can.”

Compton are still below the target of £1,000,000 required for the refurbishment so if you would like to donate you can text Compton to 70007 which will donate £3 for each text sent.
